“Connor’s death has taught us how precious life is and to cherish those childhood memories that one day we might treasure forever.”
The Hull family have an obvious reason to value family photography just a little bit more than other families. When you read Mum Nicola’s story, you may well understand why.
“Zara is our 6th child but a little miracle sent from heaven above to get us through this difficult time. She was born 6 months to the day after her brother died in a tragic accident – a couple of weeks before his 18th birthday and we held his funeral on the day he should have turned 18.
“Zara arrived early just like her big brother, determined to come into the world at the exact same time her big brother left it. She was the same birth weight as him – tiny but perfect – whereas all the other 4 children were 9/10lbs and 2 weeks late.”
Nicola asked me to come to the family home to take some documentary family portraits of Zara on her 2nd birthday, with older brother Indy Joe enjoying the day too, while all of the other children were at school.
“She’s such a joy to watch grow up into a sweet head strong independent determined little monkey with a smile that can light up a room. Indy Joe is her partner in crime, is very inquisitive and full of mischief that keeps me on my toes all day long. But they are my life and couldn’t imagine life without them. Connor’s death has taught us how precious life is and to cherish those childhood memories that one day we might treasure forever.”
Nicola has said that she’d like something to give to each of her children to keep as a record of their childhood. Here’s a little look at Nicola’s fine art family album specially designed for day in the life family photography sessions.
I couldn’t help but be deeply moved by Nicola’s story. I’m hoping that the photographs below will become part of her family’s story.
